The Bauchi State Government has declared a two-day break for the state-owned schools, ahead of the governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday, March 18.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the Information Officer of the Ministry of Education, Mr Jalal Maina, on Wednesday.
The Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Jamila Dahiru, who announced the schools’ closure in the statement in Bauchi, said that the break was because of the adjustment in the date of the elections.
“Day schools are to be closed on Friday, March 17 and Monday, March 20. School activities are to resume on Tuesday, March 21, 2023.
“All boarding school students are to remain in their respective schools during the break.”
Dahiru wished all students and teachers hitch-free elections, reiterating that the state government was committed to their welfare and would continue to provide qualitative education for the betterment of the state.
Recall that the ministry had, on Feb. 23, declared a two-day break for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections, which were earlier slated for March 11.
