By Sunday John, Lafia.
The Police Command in Nasarawa State says some gunmen on motorcycles on Friday abducted six pupils of Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) Primary School in Alwaza, Doma Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the development to newsmen in Lafia.
Nansel said that preliminary investigations revealed that the pupils, aged between seven and eight years, were abducted on their way to school around 7 a.m.
He said that a joint security team, which comprised the police, military and vigilantes, had been mobilised to the area for search-and-rescue operations.
“We are on the trail of the abductors and the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Muhammed-Baba, has also visited the scene for on-the-spot assessment,” he said.
The PPRO said that the police had met with the management of the school and the parents of the victims.
Nansel, therefore, called on the public to avail the police with any information that could lead to the rescue of the kidnap victims and the arrest of their abductors.
