INEC devolves collection of PVCs to wards in Oyo State

By David Adeoye, Ibadan.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the devolution of collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to 351 registration areas/ward collation centres across Oyo State.

This is contained in a statement by INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Dr Adeniran Tella, on Friday in Ibadan.

The measure, which would start on Jan. 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, would bring PVCs collection nearer to the people, as the preparations toward the 2023 general elections reach a crescendo.

Tell explained that the exercise was for all eligible valid registrants, including “those that applied for replacement of lost, damaged or defaced PVCs and those that registered prior to the 2019 general elections and have yet to collect their cards.”

The REC stressed that collection of PVCs would revert to all the 33 INEC Local Government Area Offices until Jan. 22.

He implored the electorate to make good use of the arrangements, as PVCs collection would not be by proxy.
