Nigeria’s stability rests on sacrifices of armed forces, says Gov. Adeleke

By Joshua Oladipo, Osogbo.

Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun says the stability of Nigeria rests on the gallantry, patriotism and sacrifices of its armed forces.

Adeleke said this during the inauguration of the 2023 Emblem for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day on Thursday in Osogbo.

The governor, who launched the 2023 emblem with a donation of N5 million, appreciated the commitment of the military and other security personnel to curtailing all forms of threats within the nation’s territorial boundaries.

He noted that many gallant officers of the armed forces had sacrificed their lives for the country to be at peace.

“We must, therefore, continue to acknowledge the contributions of the armed forces to the survival of the nation,” he said.

Adeleke said that his administration would continue to work with military, in order to expand the current level of partnership and expand the scope of peace in the state.

The governor said that his administration had put in place a security sector reform, which placed the welfare of servicemen at the centre stage.

Earlier, the Chairman of Nigerian Legion in Osun, Mr Oladipo Peter,  appreciated the fallen heroes who lost their lives, while defending the territorial integrity of the country.

Peter praised other gallant military officers and men who became maimed or permanently disabled, while fighting for the peace and stability of the country.

He prayed that the new administration in the state under Gov. Adeleke would be successful in achieving its agenda.

Peter appealed for more support in the areas of welfare and other benefits for members of the legion.

Highlight of the event was the decoration of the governor and heads of security agencies in the state with the emblem.
