The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to Nigeria’s infrastructural development, so as to fast-track sustainable social and economic development of the country.
The Minister of State for Works and Housing, Alhaji Umar El-Yakub, voiced the commitment on Thursday in Maiduguri after a two-day inspection of federal road projects executed by the Borno State Government.
He said that the infrastructure development projects initiated in all sectors had impacted positively on the nation’s economy through job creation.
“This administration has executed a lot of legacy projects and Nigerians are appreciative of that.
“The projects are impacting on the economy by creating job, empowering the people and reducing poverty, particularly in corridors where they are sited.
“The projects are all over the country and in all sectors,” he said.
El-Yakub, who lauded the quality of work on the road projects executed by the state government, said that the committee would submit its report on the projects for consideration and approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said that the president, after his approval, would forward a request to the National Assembly for reimbursement of the funds spent on the projects to the state government.
Some of the completed road projects inspected by the committee include the Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gamboru-Ngala Road, the Maiduguri-Konduga-Bama Road and the Damboa-Chibok Road.
