The Police Command in Anambra State has confirmed the arrest of one Matthew Nwankwo, a suspected kidnap gang leader, seven years after he had been declared wanted.
Nwankwo had been on the run since 2015 when his house in Umuobindo village, Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area, was demolished by the Anambra State Government after it was busted as a kidnappers’ den.
The suspect was arrested by the police in the early hours of Tuesday, following a tipoff and was being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Anambra confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
“The suspect is in custody, further development shall be communicated please,” he said.
