Yobe electrification board executes 160 projects in 3 years – GM

Yobe State Rural Electrification Board (REB) says it has executed 160 electrification projects within the three years of the current administration of Gov. Mai Mala Buni.


The General Manager of the board, Mr Umara Goniri, said this while addressing newsmen on Saturday in Damaturu.


“A total of 160 electrification projects were undertaken by this administration, out of which 133 had been completed and inaugurated.


“The remaining 27 are ongoing and they are scheduled to be completed before the end of this year,” he said.


Goniri said that the projects included the procurement and installation of transformers of different capacities.


According to him, the board has also carried out upgrades and extensions, electrification and re-electrification of power supply systems in various communities across the 17 local government areas of the state.


He added that other projects included the rehabilitation and strengthening of 33KV lines from Potiskum to Fika, Potiskum to Kukar-Gadu, Gashua to Nguru, among others.


Goniri said that the board had also replaced burnt transformers in Bayanai Bakin Tasha, Sokol Potiskum, Anguwan Kaji, Potiskum and at military barracks, Damaturu, along Potiskum road, among others.


He commended Buni for creating an enabling environment for the management of the board to succeed and the confidence he reposed in them.


He also lauded the technical team and the management staff of the board for their support and cooperation.
