The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has commended Gov. Charles Soludo of Anambra State for his prompt action in shutting down Winters Garden Hotel, over an alleged viral video sex party held in the hotel.
The organisation gave the commendation in a statement signed by its Chairman, Mr Vincent Ezekwueme, and made available to newsmen in Onitsha on Saturday.
The CLO extolled Soludo for his relentless efforts in inculcating moral rectitude in his administration and the state at large.
Recall that on Thursday, Sept. 8, Gov. Soludo ordered the closure of Winters Garden Hotels and Suites in Awka, the state capital, over an alleged viral video of sex party, purportedly held in a section of the hotel premises.
The CLO stressed that it was most despicable that such happened in the university community, in spite of lecturers’ six-month old strike. which had forced students on an unscheduled vacation.
“There is need to get to the root and ascertain the actual authentic promoters and organizers of the devilish event; Nigerians are eager and inquisitive to know the organizers and the motive behind it.
“It is very unfortunate and detestable that this amorous and disgraceful act has brought about negative image and impact on the state and her citizens,” it said.
The organisation described the act as a shameful, painful and devastating incident, with negative effects on the youth, the society and the state.
