The Police Command in Enugu State says it is seeking synergy with the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to improve security in the state.
The new Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ahmed Ammani, said this on Friday when he paid a courtesy visit to Mr Nicholas Obiako, the State Controller of Corrections, in Enugu.
Ammani said that he intended to chart a new course on how to provide better public protection and safety in the state.
“As a critical stakeholder in the criminal justice system, we are here to explore ways of improving what is on the ground, in terms of security and safety of our people,” he said.
He commended the NCoS command in Enugu State for being a worthy partner of the police.
“And we look forward to a better working relationship between both services during my tenure,” he said.
Responding, Obiako, lauded the commissioner for the visit and solidarity.
The controller said that the relationship between both services was long-standing.
Obiako promised to give the commissioner the necessary support, in efforts to achieve adequate security of lives and property in the state .
According to him, the two services naturally exist to complement each other.
“I wish you a blissful stay in the state and the command is looking forward to a good working relationship with you as well,” he said.
