The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Sokoto State University chapter, has commended Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State for approving the payment of earned allowances for members.
The Chairman of SSANU chapter, Mr Abdullahi Maigandi, made the commendation in his address during the association’s special congress meeting on Thursday in Sokoto.
He said that the approved entitlements included hazard, excess workload and responsibility allowances.
The chairman described the gesture as a motivation for greater service, stressing that it was the first in the history of the Sokoto State University.
Maigandi urged the members to reciprocate the kind gesture by complementing the efforts of Tambuwal to fast-track the development of the education sector of the state.
He also applauded the willingness of the governor to always give cogent attention to all issues of public importance.
He urged Tambuwal to maintain the mien, while calling on SSANU members to exercise patience as approval for the payment of their benefits had been forwarded to the State Ministry of Finance for prompt action.
The SSAN chairman also commended the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Bashir Garba, for working hard t6o promote the interests of the union and the state in general.
He said that the union had enjoyed cordial working relationship with the university management under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sani Dangoggo.
