The Rivers State Government says it would usher in 2021 with the inauguration of six completed road projects in seven Local Government Areas of the state.
The Commissioner of Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, who said this in a statement in Port Harcourt on Saturday, stressed that the inauguration would be carried out between Jan. 4 and Jan. 9 by specially invited guests.
He said that the road projects included the Eteo-Sime-Nonwa-Kira Road, which would be inaugurated by Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Jan. 4, and the Sakpenwa-Bori Road that would be inaugurated by Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on Jan. 5.
Besides, the Eleme-Afam-Oyigbo Road would be inaugurated on Jan. 6 by Sen. Ali Ndume, while on Jan. 8, Forces Avenue-Olumeni-Harley Streets were also scheduled for inauguration.
“Activities for the week will be rounded-off on Saturday, Jan. 9, with the inauguration of the Bonny/Bille Waterside Jetty in Port Harcourt,” Nsirim added.
The commissioner, who stressed that all COVID-19 protocols must be strictly observed at all the venues, quoted Gov. Nyesom Wike as urging the residents to turn out en-masse and give the invited guests a taste of the traditional Rivers State’s hospitality.
