The Borgu Emirate Council in Niger State says it will support the state’s branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) in its efforts to perform optimally.
Alhaji Mohammed Kitoro, the Emir of Borgu, gave the pledge on Monday when he received Red Cross volunteers who came on a courtesy visit to his palace.
“Considering your humanitarian services to the people, the Borgu Emirate will do everything possible to support you when the need arises,” he said.
He said that such support had become necessary, considering the enormous contributions of the Red Cross Society to the people, particularly the vulnerable members of the society.
Kitoro said that the Red Cross Society was a worldwide recognised voluntary organisation, which required the support of everybody to enable it to discharge its humanitarian services effectively.
The emir, however, advised members of the society to always sustain the confidence of the people by discharging their humanitarian duties with commitment and professionalism.
The Red Cross delegation was led by Mr Mohammed Binta, the Vice-Chairman, and the officials were in New Bussa, Niger State, for a three-day retreat.
