President Mahamadou Issoufou Niger Republic says the establishment of the Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN) in Maradi, Niger Republic, has brought a lot of benefits to his country.
Issoufou made the observation in a statement issued by the spokesperson of MAAUN, Ali Kakaki, in Kano on Sunday.
The Nigerien president made the assertion on Saturday in Niamey when he received the Founder and President of MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar-Gwarzo, who came on a courtesy visit.
Issoufou noted that the establishment of the University in Maradi had promoted educational development, while boosting the economic growth of the state and the country as a whole.
Abubakar-Gwarzo, in his remarks, commended the president over the support and cooperation, which the university had received from his administration.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the university to promoting peaceful coexistence among the staff, students and their host community.
Abubakar-Gwarzo also underscored the university’s commitment to providing students from Niger Republic, Nigeria, and other countries with quality education.
In the meantime, the construction of the Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN), Kano, has reached advanced stages.
