Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi on Sunday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Philip Shekwo, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shekwo was abducted by gunmen from his residence in Bukan-Sidi, Lafia, on Saturday and was on Sunday confirmed dead by the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Bola Longe.
The Speaker, who was at the family compound of the late party chieftain in Lafia, also commiserated with the state government, the APC family and the people of the state over the killing.
While expressing shock over Shekwo’s untimely death, Balarabe-Abdullahi prayed to God to forgive his shortcomings and comfort his family.
He described Shekwo’s death as painful and a great loss to the state.
Also, the Ondo State chapter of APC has condemned the murder of Shekwo.
Mr Ade Adetimehin, state APC Chairman, in a statement in Akure on Sunday, described the killing as an “unforgivable wickedness”, urging the security agencies to unmask the murderers of the slain party chieftain.
He frowned at the growing activities of gunmen across the country and called for concerted efforts to ensure a more secure society for all Nigerians.
Adetimehin said that the Forum of APC State Chairmen would surely miss Shekwo’s kindness, experience in party politics and intelligent contributions during meetings.
He described Shekwo as “a team player and a jolly good fellow”.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of Shekwo and appealed to his family and Nasarawa State APC chapter to seek divine solace in God at the trying period.
