Gov. Abubakar Bello of Niger has tested positive to COVID-19, an aide disclosed in a statement.
The Chief Press Secretary to Bello, Mary Noel-Berje, in Minna on Monday said that the governor’s sample was taken for test, and unfortunately it returned positive.
Noel-Berje said that the governor, who made this known via his Twitter handle, said that he had immediately gone into self-isolation and commenced treatment.
She solicited for prayers from all and sundry for the governor’s quick recovery, even as he was asymptomatic to the virus.
However, Noel-Berje advised the people of the state to always observe all the COVID-19 protocols in their day-today dealings.
It would be recalled Gov. Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna State, Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State once tested positive to the virus.
Other governors who had tested positive to COVID-19 include Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
