FRSC, local govts collaborate to curb road accidents in Adamawa

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it will collaborate with chairmen of the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Adamawa State in efforts to curb accidents across the roads.

Mr Ocheja Ameh, the FRSC Sector Commander in Adamawa, said this via a statement on Thursday in Yola.

He said that the collaboration was aimed at curbing road traffic accidents during the “ember months” and beyond.

The sector commander, however, noted that FRSC presence was currently limited to only six LGAs in the State.

“The command wants to expand the FRSC presence with the deployment of personnel, known as station officers, in all the local government headquarters in Adamawa.

“The officers are expected to carry out robust public enlightenment and advocacy as well as intelligence, while gathering and collating data on road traffic accidents, among others”, he said.

Ameh, however, commended the ALGON Chairman, Mr Jingi Rufa’i, for the association’s commitment to collaborating with the corps, in efforts to execute successful road safety operations.

He also acknowledged the input of the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Umar, and the Forum of Local Council Chairmen in facilitating the collaboration.
