The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo on Tuesday commended President Muhammadu Buhari for putting in place adequate security arrangements for the Sept. 18 governorship election in the state.
The state PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr Chris Nehikhare, gave the commendation in Benin, in a statement issued on behalf of the State PDP Campaign Council.
Nehikhare said that the security arrangements made by the Buhari-administration to ensure the security and safety of the people, before, during and after the election, deserved commendation.
“With the massive deployment of men of the Nigeria Police Force, the military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies to Edo to supervise Saturday’s election, the PDP is confident that the election will be crisis-free,” he said.
The PDP’s spokesman noted that Buhari’s commitment to safeguarding the safety and security of voters in the state would bolster voter confidence and impact positively on voter turnout.
He urged voters to come out en masse on Saturday to elect credible leaders for the state.
